Powder Post Beetles

The damage caused by these pests is done by the larvae as they create narrow, meandering tunnels in wood as they feed. If you have ever split firewood, you may have noticed thin white hair-like worms within the wood, sometimes called wood-worms.  These are the larva of the Powder Post Beetle.  Infestations are discovered after noticing small, round “exit holes” in the wood surface above a yellow pile of powder where adult beetles have chewed out of the wood after completing their development. Penn Pest can help you avoid serious problems from Powder Post Beetles by early detection. Call us for a free inspection.
